August 2026

Alpha Node Capital recorded strong results across its flagship funds in August. The Digital Fund rose by 24.40%, reflecting a broad-based institutional rally in digital asset markets, while the Alpha Prime Trust maintained its resilience with a positive return of 0.43%. The month opened in sluggish consolidation, weighed down by uncertainty over Federal Reserve rate policy and pullbacks in traditional risk assets. Sentiment turned through the middle of the period as institutional catalysts emerged, led by record spot ETF inflows, the White House Crypto Summit, and a proposed SEC token-issuance framework. With markets pricing rising expectations of US rate cuts, major assets surged into month-end, Bitcoin breaking decisively above US$80,000 for one of its strongest August performances in recent years.

Digital Fund

Digital Fund returned +24.40% over the month. Bitcoin gained 25.24% to close US$78,554.14, recovering from an early-month stall around US$64,000 as the August breakout above US$69,000 gave way to a further leg higher above US$70,000s. Ethereum was the stronger of the two core holdings, rising 32.57% to close near US$2,467, as ETF inflows resumed through the month and the August surge carried the token decisively back above the US$2,300 level it had struggled to hold since June.

Monero was again the standout contributor, returning 47.42%, supported by the release of the Cuprate node client and continued progress on the Serai decentralised exchange, which helped offset the drag from ongoing delistings at major centralised venues. SKY, the governance token of the Sky protocol, and Binance (BNB) also added to performance, up 21.91% and 17.82% respectively, with SKY continuing to benefit from the protocol’s ongoing token buyback programme. Stellar was the principal laggard, adding just 2.03% despite its tokenised real-world asset market swelling to nearly US$4 billion over the year and a planned tokenisation integration with the DTCC, as the token remained range-bound below resistance. Tronix and Litecoin also lagged the broader rally, gaining 2.12% and 8.09% respectively.

Alpha Prime Trust

Alpha Prime Trust returned +0.43% over the month, with contributions spread across the Defi strategy, Market-neutral and Forex strategies. The sharp risk-on move in digital assets from August lifted DeFi yields and improved carry available to market-neutral positioning, while the Forex strategy benefited from broad US dollar softness through the month as Treasury’s bond-buying announcement and mounting rate-cut expectations weighed on the currency.
